Quotation of the Week

While this is not a quotation from someone noted in Christian history, it does display the deep power of the stories found in scripture. It is from my best friend's daughter who was, until this week, a college student in New Orleans. When describing to me what she witnessed while escaping Hurricane Katrina, she said the following,

"You know what I saw, Uncle Father Rob? [That's really what she calls me.] Just as we were leaving, there was wave after wave of frogs and snakes running from the hurricane. It was just a sea of snakes. It was like the Old Testament!" We spoke for some time afterwards about what she remembered from Sunday School as a child and how vivid it had become for her while trying to leave the city. We also spoke of prayer and its power and efficacy.

She's safe at home now, probably reading something about either Noah or Moses. Or maybe Rolling Stone [the magazine, not the one at the tomb].

[Actually, her mother just told me that she's trying to find a local college that will take her for at least one semester. I imagine that there are a number of students trying to do the same thing.]
