News from our Extended Congregation

Betty has asked that we post portions of the following. It is from her son who lives in New Orleans:

"Hi Everyone,

We just want to let everyone know that [we] are safe, we left New Orleans on Sunday before the storm hit and are now staying with...relatives in Baton Rouge. At this point, there is a lot of uncertainty about the future. We cannot return to New Orleans and it looks like our home has probably been flooded. We also have some foolhardy relatives and friends who decided to stay in the city and now we are not sure where they are or how they are doing. There is no communication with South Louisiana, the phones and cell phone towers are all out....If you would like to help, you might want to make a donation to the Red Cross, they are doing a wonderful job of trying to help the tens of thousands of people who are suddenly homeless here."

I expect that the Episcopal Relief and Development will be addressing needs in Louisiana, Alabama, and Mississippi as well, and will be requesting donations. I will post those particulars when I receive them.
