Tabernacle

A small cabinet designed to contain the Reserved Sacrament, [that is, the consecrated bread and wine]. The tabernacle may be found built into the altar, sitting on the altar, on the retable or shelf behind the altar [as it is in St. Paul's Church], or it may be built into the wall of the sanctuary, [as it is at St. Paul's Chapel].
