Word of the Week
Stole
A strip of cloth worn about the neck of an ordained minister. Priests and bishops wear the stole around the neck on both shoulders; a deacon will wear a stole across his or her left shoulder to be secured on the right side.
The stole is worn at all Eucharistic services, weddings and funerals, but is not worn at the daily office [that is, the services of Morning and Evening Prayer].
The stole is representative of the yoke of obedience to Christ.
